Sinclair User became the first mainstream ZX Spectrum magazine back in the 1982. Initially aimed at serious users, by the mid-1980s Emap’s Sinclair User was a major rival to the format leader, Crash magazine. Cover tape wars began in the late 1980s, and continued into the 1990s, until the magazine’s demise in 1993.
