BMX Flyer by Grandstand - Project 1983 Highly regarded LED Tabletop game , in which you ride a BMX avoiding and jumping over obstacles. This game features Tomy's Color-Laser technology, creating a detailed backlit colour screen.
This is a bit different to our normal handheld listings, as this is actually for two versions of the game. The first is in immaculate physical condition, complete with box, poly inner and manual. This is one of the best examples of the game we've ever seen, it is like new, 10/10. However, while it does power up, the screen does not display anything - probably why it's in such amazing condition. The second game is in quite worn condition and missing battery cover, but it is completely working. Our intention was to try and put the innards of one game into the other and make a perfect one, but nobody in the retrogames office is very technically minded. A good opportunity to create a museum quality example of this classic game.
LED Electronic games dominated the toy industry between 1977 and 1983. They use light emitting diodes to create displays made of lights. Later LED games use vacuum formed displays, which allow detailed coloured sprites to be animated on-screen. Today handheld and tabletop games rank amongst the most valuable and collectible retro game formats.
